Who is Dodger?
Dodger is a charismatic, street-smart Jack Russell Terrier in Disney’s animated film , a modern retelling of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist. Dodger is the leader of a gang of stray dogs who survive by their wits in New York City.
Known for his charm and cleverness, Dodger takes Oliver, an orphaned kitten, under his wing, guiding him through the streets and showing him the ropes of their makeshift family. Dodger’s adventurous and loyal nature makes him a beloved character, adding humor and heart to the story.
In the film, Dodger is voiced by legendary musician Billy Joel. Joel brought his iconic New York accent and personality to Dodger, making the character memorable and authentic. He also performed the song “Why Should I Worry?” in the movie, which became one of the film’s most popular numbers. Joel’s performance added a unique depth to Dodger, blending his own personality with the character’s lively spirit.
